I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No. 024 of the 12th. instant. Immediately on its receipt I telephoned the contents of the tele ran it covers to the Chairman of the Committee appointed to advise on the vital requirement of the Colony in the matter of shipping, to whom your letter of the 8th. inetent with ite enclosure had alread already been referred, with an urgent request for their advice on the subject and at the same time I suggested to Yr. Edkins that to save time he should see you in the matter. I now enclose oopy of a letter from the Chairman of the Committee on this sub- ject and I shall be obliged if you will communicats it to the Commander-in-Chief by telegraph.
